Boundless Auction
About the Project
Like the old fashioned game books, the player can choose the path of the story, and the consequences of the choices. This project aims to be a tribute to the old game books, with a modern twist, but keeping the old-fashioned feel.
The Engine
The game engine powering Boundless Auction is Unity. The most relevant functionality is the pages texture generator, which allows to create each page of the book without the need to manipulate the 3D model at runtime. The pages are generated at development time, and the 3D model is animated to flip the pages. Pages are generated for all the supported languages, and the game automatically loads the correct one. This system allows the lights and the shadows to be correctly applied to the pages and to have a more realistic look.
My Contribution
I was the only programmer in the team. I've designed and implemented the entire project, from the initial concept to the prototype.
Key Features
Interactive Storytelling
The game is a book, with a unique storytelling system. The player can choose the path of the story, and the consequences of the choices.
Internationalization
The game is fully internationalized, with text in English and Italian. It's possible to add new languages by adding the translations in the pages objects. Voice-over will be available for the English version.
Boss Battles
The game features a unique boss battle system. Each boss is a unique challenge, with a unique set of abilities and weaknesses.
